I have been a licensed child care provider in Anne Arundel County for 18 years. Five years ago I decided to participate in the The Maryland Child Care Credentialing Program. This is a voluntary program that requires you to have additional training that goes above what the state requires. During these trainings I learned about NAFCC , which is a national accredited program. I started the self study in the Spring of 08 and I am pleased to say that I received my accredition in September of 2009. All of these programs require that you have more training than what is required by state licensing to maintain them.

I also have taken the Emergency Preparedness class in the event that there is a problem bigger than normal. I have prepared emergency safe places outside of the neighborhood in the event we have to evacuate my home or neighborhood, and emergency safe place in the child care home if we have to stay put. I recently finished a 6 hour class for Medication Administration--at this time it is a voluntary class. In December of 08 I finished a 54 hour class for the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR). In this training, I learned how to put together a portfolio for the children and how to prepare them for school.

In my efforts to better myself and my home, I continue to take trainings to improve and gain more knowledge to serve the children and their families that are in my care. It is my hope to continue to build on the foundation of education and years of experience that I already have. I love my job and I take it seriously. It is important to me that you feel that your child is in a safe, caring place where they can grow, learn and most important: PLAY.
I love what I do, sharing my home, caring for children…striving to be the best I can be. |
